I had quite the jolt yesterday when I got home from the pharmacy. I had to go pick up some medications for my face lift next week, and came home with a bag of prescription pills. Because of the positive medical effects of cannabis, I was able to forego a few of the prescriptions, which is a good thing monetarily and physically.
But the Big Thing? The Jolt? They prescribed opioid pain meds, and back in the days before medical cannabis, I was a huge fan of pills. And not just because they helped with my pain, though they did. There was something kinda insidious about those pills; I always wanted more, even though I didn't get better. I was even at the point where I would sometimes want to look in peoples’ medicine cabinets…not good.
So here I am yesterday with a bottle of Percocet, and all I can think of is how differently I feel about them now. I know they can be effective with acute pain, so I'll take a couple, but instead of trying to figure out how to get more like in the old days, I'm trying to see how few I can take. Quite the change! I'm telling you guys, this is a freakin' miracle. I mean, I used to have a three-drug rule: more than three different meds, and I was no longer responsible. I thought I was so fun at parties, but I usually just fell asleep in a corner. Luckily I never got addicted, but boy, I can sure see how it happens. Now, thanks to cannabis, I'm pain free, I get better each day, and I NEVER think about other peoples’ medicine cabinets!
